Microplaned, air-dried bubble hash.

I recently listened to Fred Morris’ interview on The Hashish Inn (October 2023) and immediately started taking notes.

The episode is packed with actionable techniques for aspiring hobby hash makers who don’t have access to an expensive freeze dryer and are just starting out with air drying.

10 Microplane Tips To Make Professional Air Dried Bubble Hash Like Fred Morris

1. Silver Dollar Pucks:

Aim for ~1/8" thick, between a quarter and a silver dollar in size. Thinner and it will melt too fast, thicker and it won’t micrplane evenly. Main goal with puck forming is to make microplaning easy.

2. Initial Puck Wick:

  • Collect hash into pucks onto moisture-wicking screens (usually 25µ).
  • Under screens, place paper towels to wick moisture.
  • Place screen on top of hash, and additional towels on top (helps with oxidation and discoloration)
  • Place in fridge
  • Swap paper towels within first 2 hours, then after 3–4 hours
