Spend enough time around growers and you’ll hear talk about a proper “cure.”

Done correctly, this finishing touch preserves the quality resulting from months of hard work — or throws it all away if done incorrectly.

No matter how perfect your harvest is (was), rushing a dry and cure is the fastest way to ruin it.

I have been growing my own weed since 2019, and since that time I have learned that allowing your buds to cure will almost certainly make the smoking experience better.

But the question is: Why?

Why do growers recommend everyone take the time to cure properly?

3 Specific Reasons Why Everyone Should Cure:

Reason #1: Moisture regulation.

As your buds dry, the outer plant material dries faster than the inner buds and you want that to self regulate to avoid stagnant, moist, anaerobic pockets prone to molds and rots.

Curing takes over after your dry, helping with this.

Reason #2: Chlorophyl.

This pigment responsible for the green color in plants can also impact the smoking experience.
