6 Character Traits That Separate Good Growers from Great Growers
I’ve been growing my own cannabis since 2019, but I’ve been working in cannabis–both legacy and legal–for over a decade.
Through this access, I’ve studied the behaviors of everyone from average hobby growers to your legacy growers to ChadBro CEOs.
The difference between a good and a great grower has nothing to do with their knowledge of the plant, and everything to do with their personal character.
6 Character Traits Every Great Grower Has:
- Constant Learning: The best growers I know are always learning. Not just learning about the grow, but in general. They’re learning piano or how to bowhunt or the best way to bring their golf handicap down. There is a never-ending desire for new information and skills.
- Willing To Change: Just because something has worked so far, doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way to achieve your goals; the best growers know this and are always willing to pivot.
- Humility: Lack of dogma; being humble with your approach to knowledge, instruction, and plants themselves, but also in life, in your conversations, interactions, and relationships–both personal and professional.
- Transparency: The best growers I know are open about what’s happening in their grows, but — more importantly — they’re open about where they are in their journey and the limitations of their knowledge.
- Cleanliness: The best growers know that cleanliness is key. Clean growers mean clean grows, and clean grows mean happy plants. You don’t have photogenic, heavy-hitting, highly-desirable harvests when you’re tracking in dirt, dust, and contaminants.
- Versatility: The best growers I know have a preferred method, but they’ve found that through years of trial and error. They don’t just run seeds or just run clones. They don’t just run salts or just run organic. They don’t just run LEDs or just run HIDs.
The best growers I know aren’t just good with plants, they’re good at learning, and they take what they learn and use it.
