6 Reasons I Tell New Tent Growers To Start with LEDs (Not HPS)

HPS (high pressure sodium) were once the industry standard.

These lights are basically photon (light) cannons.

And, at one time, they were the best at delivering the most light to plants.

Early LEDs lacked the “oomf” needed.

But, like most technology, things change with time.

Now, LEDs dominate the home grow space.

As a home grower that started with an HPS light in a small grow tent, I can tell you firsthand that there are better ways to set up your first grow.

Once I made the switch to LEDs, I never went back.

  1. Less Fans: HPS require air cooling (which means more fans); LEDs don’t. One less thing to spend $ on.
  2. Quieter: Less fans running means less noise coming from the grow (important if you’re growing where you live…
