How do we do legal weed so everyone wins?
In order to answer this, we need to quickly run through the players in the game.
There are 3:
- Corporate Cannabis
- Craft Cannabis
- Hobby Growers
Legality has nothing to do with the classification of these growers, nor the side of the market they have chosen.
In the future, cannabis will be legal like most people not in cannabis think cannabis is legal.
Aka, it’ll be like any other plant you can grow in your home or garden, and you’ll be able to do the same things with it, for approximately the same cost to do so as any other home-based business should you decide to do more than grow for pleasure.
I’ve talked about the future of cannabis before and how the pie is shrinking and how alcohol is a great lens to look at legalization through (more on that in a minute).
But once we go through all of the growing pains, once we come out on the other side, whether that’s in 2036 or 2136, that’s what I’m talking about: the future where the pains have plateaued and the market (and culture surrounding it) have evolved to accept it as they do any other established, mature category.
