On today’s GrowHort Meet & Greet, I was asked this question:
“Can you grow multiple strains in the same tent?”
Outside of the parameters of the GrowHort — where we all grow the same strain in the same setup at the same time — I rarely monocrop.
In fact, I don’t think I’ve intentionally monocropped ever.
(Monocropping = Growing an entire crop of 1 strain)
I’m a big fan of having multiple jars to choose from.
But there are trade-offs to be made…
Advantages To Multiple Genetics In The Same Grow:
- Variety: Instead of one big harvest of one strain, you get smaller harvests of multiple strains, allowing for different flavors, profiles, and effects.
- Multi-Purpose Grow Cycles: With a variety of genetics, you can grow for flower and for hash, rather than dedicating individual cycles to individual outcomes (especially beneficial in a small hobby grow)
- The Hunt: Yes, you can hunt one pack of seeds at a time and gradually make your way through various genetics. But popping a few beans from multiple packs allows you to sample (and work through) more of your seed collection, helping…
