Homegrown flower costs me $28/ounce (on average)

This question landed in my DM’s this week:

“How cheap it is to produce your own after the initial investment?”

I did what I normally do:

I pointed him to the breakdown I did on 2x4's.

But as he pointed out:

AFTER you buy everything…

AFTER you’re set up…

AFTER that first run…

How much does it cost to grow your own?

The 2x4 breakdown is pretty comprehensive — It’s on my Substack if you’re curious— but it doesn’t really touch on production costs by unit (ounce or gram).

The raw notes included it, but it was omitted from main post.

2x4 Ounce Cost Estimates:

$63-$254 per ounce — 1st Cycle

$21-$95 per ounce — Successive Cycles

But the 2x4 math is theoretical:

Prices for energy and water vary, as do yields, equipment, etc.

What’s the ACTUAL math?

Which got me thinking:
