As a daily cannabis consumer for 10+ years, I’ve earned two degrees, published two books, and generated six figures a year in revenue, all while lighting up from sun up to sun down.
During this time, I’ve learned how to manage my workload to ensure I’m as punctual and mindful as any of my non-smoking peers and clients.
These are the two tools I could not smoke without:
Universal Calendar (Get Rid of Your To Do List)
For the first 6 years of my career, I preferred a running to-do list to a calendar. Yes, never-ending lists avoid forgetfulness, but they’re also a great way to end the day feeling like you’re still behind.
Instead of a to-do list, get in the habit of using a universal calendar available on all devices, tied to all of your accounts. You’ll never forget an appointment or meeting, and you will also schedule your time realistically, allowing you to get what you need done without giving anyone a reason to blame weed for your performance.
Synchronized Notepad (Take Notes on Everything)
As we all know, cannabis is commonly associated with forgetfulness and lapses in short-term memory.
In addition to making it to your meetings, you have to remember what happened at them, who you met with, and what your next steps are.
Whether you are on a phone call, in a meeting on your laptop, or walking the dog brainstorming your next big idea, a habit of thorough note-taking (in a notepad that’s synced on all devices) will ensure that no one can accuse you of falling behind.
If you’re going to smoke daily, you have to stay on top of your shit, and there’s no tools more essential than an up-to-date calendar and a good note-taking routine.
