Like most beginners, I made a lot of mistakes when I first started growing cannabis.
But this was one of the biggest, by far:
You actually have to measure your inputs.
Here’s what happened:
My first 🌱hobby grow was a 2x2x4' space in the closet of my 2-bedroom apartment. Having been around the industry for a few years, I’d accumulated a cardboard box of “samples” from various industry trade shows.
As a new grower, I was unaware how sensitive plants were to over and under feeding. (Yes, you can overload your plants to the point where they stop eating; you can also starve your plants if you aren’t giving them enough of what they want.)
Your plants do not want “a little bit of this” and “a little bit of that” from multiple random, expired supplement samples; they want a healthy, balanced consistent diet.
But, it’s also worth acknowledging that making this mistake taught me a ton.
By measuring your feeds, you can ensure your plants are getting exactly what they need, when they need it.
This is why I encourage new Hobby Growers to treat their mistakes (and “failures”) as necessary steps along the path rather than getting discouraged.
There is always a lesson to be learned in a 🌱Hobby Grow.
