Tired of Burning The Candle At Both Ends? Ask Yourself This One Painful Question
A month after I turned 30, one of my closest friends gave me an unforgettable piece of advice.
After more than a decade working in weed, I still struggled to find a simple answer to “What do you do?”
Like most entrepreneurs, I was trying to do everything: I was a writer, an event host, a marketer, a journalist, an ecommerce strategist, a ghostwriter, a co-author, a magazine editor, a logo and branding designer, a heavy cannabis consumer, and a beginner hobby grower, to name a few.
One day, mid-conversation—in an almost dismissive tone, no less—my friend Cole cut me off, and said:
“Wait, aren’t you still throwing events, too?”
“Yeah….why?”
His response has stuck with me ever since:
“Is that what you want to be doing in 5 years?”
That day, my whole life changed.
Immediately, I knew how to stress-test every aspect of my life.
I also knew, deep down, it meant breaking up with a variety of passion projects. Which sucks; It’s like finding herms on Day 57 of flower.
Ever since, I’ve put everything I have into a sole focus: helping cannabis consumers feel confident starting a hobby grow. And my progress (and time) have rewarded me for those tough decisions at an exponentially faster pace.
