Contrary to popular belief:
Growing is a team sport.
As a kid, I liked tennis.
Sure, I played soccer and basketball and baseball and other team sports, but where I really excelled — and what I enjoyed — were opportunities to shine as an individual.
Win or lose, there was no one else responsible (or so I thought).
But, even in singles (1-on-1 matches), you’re on a team.
Your match counts towards the overall team score.
In a lot of ways, growing is like tennis.
We — the community of growers — are a team.
We have coaches — mentors and growers who came before us, who help us avoid reinventing the wheel, who amplify our potential.
We have teammates — fellow growers and friends who provide feedback, inspiration, and even hand-me-down supplies, but also new growers that turn to us for help with their technique.
And, like a singles match, growing is often a solo pursuit, relying on what you know and how you use it in those decisive moments.
